Beach Towel Tote Bag!

Beach bag-1

Hello there!  It’s finally starting to look like Summer here in Indiana and that means beach time and lots of running around.  I can always use an XL tote to keep me organized from one place to the next.  I created this fun bag from a beach towel!

Beach bag-1-5

You can’t even believe how easy it is!  I made this in under 30 minutes and you can too!  This is the perfect beginner sewing project.  ( How cute is this “Tropic like it’s Hot” SVG from LoveSVG?)

Beach bag-3

The best part is, it’s so easy to throw in the laundry with your other towels, it’s easy to personalize (make one for each of the kiddos with their own name), it’s is so big you can use it for the beach, a diaper bag, sleepovers, you name it – I’m pretty sure it’s going to fit!  If you want it a little smaller, it’s really easy to downsize, simply cut your pieces smaller.

Beach bag-1-4

I personalized my bag with the Cricut EasyPress.  I used the cotton settings and made sure to press from both the inside and outside of the bag.  I used Glitter Iron On and Regular Cricut Lite Iron On.  (Hint:  use code LORRIE and save 10% and get free shipping on Iron On and other Cricut Accessories).   I used pretty towels from Walmart, but any beach towel would work.  Are you ready for the step by step tutorial?

Fabric Buttons & Zipper Pulls w/Cricut & Button Maker

Hello!  I am back with another DIY tutorial for you!  This time, we are making buttons and zipper pulls!

zipper pull-2

I used my Cricut and my Button Maker to make them.  I think they turned out so super cute!

zipper pull-1

If you’ve followed my Youtube Channel for long, you will know that a couple of years ago I went a little nutzo making button flare (you can see the tutorial here).  What I didn’t know then, that I figured out now is that not only can you use paper, but you can use fabric!!!

zipper pull-5

I cannot even tell you how happy this makes me!  Coordinating Zipper Pulls and Buttons for my handmade creations is absolutely the icing on the cake and really provides the perfect finishing touch!

zipper pull-6

Quilt3-1

I mean… c’mon now.. is that not the cutest!  How about adding a fabric button to the center of a flower, on a headband, on a purse or bag, zipper pulls on the kids backpacks and jackets!!?!   Hello!  I am over the moon excited!

zipper pull-9

so… .you want to know how to make these cutie patooties?  Here you go!

Embroidery Hoop with HeatnBond and the Cricut Maker

Embroidery Hoop-5

Hello!  Today, I have a fun project over on the Thermoweb Blog.  I was challenged to create an “Embroidery Hoop Caddy”.  Caddy’s of this sort, have been around for quite awhile, so I wanted to try and make it a little different.  Enter… HeatnBond Ultra and my Cricut Maker.

Embroidery Hoop-8

This was so much fun to make and it is 100% a no-sew project!  The Cricut cut all of the pieces of fabric which I had lined with Thermoweb’s HeatnBond Ultra Adhesive.  Once the pieces were cut, all I had to do was apply heat with an iron to adhere the pieces into place.

Embroidery Hoop-7

I used really gorgeous fabrics by Windham Fabrics.  Who doesn’t love a teal fabric fox!!  Wouldn’t it be fun to make 3 of them in various woodland creatures and add them as a decorative, but useful element to any craftroom or even a child’s bedroom.

Screen Shot 2018-05-20 at 12.37.47 PM

I created the entire design in Cricut Design Space using Cricut Access Images and Basic Shapes.  I changed the eyes at the last minute.

I have a step by step tutorial for you!

Cricut Knife Blade & Cricut Chipboard – Gratitude Home Decor

Gratitude1

Have you tried the new Cricut Chipboard?  It works with the New Cricut Knife Blade in the Cricut Maker.  This is super thick (2MM) chipboard!  I mean, it’s really thick!  I used it to cut out the circle and the gratitude in the frame above.  Then I simply painted it!

gratitude2

A word of warning.  It’s not fast to cut out on the Maker.  It took 2 full hours to cut the two pieces out, but, it’s totally worth the Wow factor!  It gives you the look of wood.  It is very sturdy.  It’s sturdy enough that it’s even able to support the wired on greenery I added to the inside frame.

Gratitude3

I simply cannot wait to create more home decor pieces!  If you have the Maker, you are going to want this knife blade!  It is AMAZING!  The Chipboard is also a must have, in my opinion!

Key Chains with the Cricut Maker & HeatnBond Fusible Fleece

Happy Friday!  The weekend is here and the sun is shining.  It’s the time of year when we are off and running and that means… we need a convenient way to hang onto our keys.

Keychain-2

Tadaaa!  I give you the quilted key chain!  Yes, they have been around for quite some time and there are so many variations, but I haven’t seen any quite like these…

Keychain-9

It’s time to dig into your scrap bin and make a ton of these.  They are great to have on hand for a quick little gift.   I’ve got a step by step tutorial for you as well as all of the products listed below.  Be sure and tag me on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest if you make some!  I love to see your creations!

Baby Bib with your Cricut!

Bib set-1

What is it about everything baby that is just…instantly cute!  I had a big response to the baby bib gift set I posted earlier, so I decided to create a tutorial.

Bib set-3

This project is PERFECT for a beginner sewist.  The bib can easily be made with 2 fat quarters (for a reversible look), or just one if you don’t mind both sides matching.  I prefer to use a flannel or terry cloth fabric for the back just to give it that soft feel and add some extra absorbency.  I used a Cricut Quilting Kit for the fabric.  I just love how all of their Riley Blake patterned fabrics go so well together.

Bib set-4

If you haven’t upgraded to the Cricut Maker yet yet, don’t worry.  You can make this with the Cricut Explore (or even a Silhouette).  Simply follow along and cut the pattern pieces in cardstock, then use the cardstock as a pattern piece to cut your fabric by hand.  Easy Peasy!  Of course, I love using the Cricut Maker to cut all of my fabric pieces.

I’ve provided you with the free SVG file to use for your pattern.  You can download it here.  Be sure and turn off the word layers when you cut the file.

The bib is already sized for you, simply upload it into Cricut Design Space (or Silhouette Studio) and you’re ready to go.

Here’s a picture of another gift set I made using this pattern.

Burp Cloth with the Cricut Easy Press, Maker & Thermoweb HeatnBond

Burp EP-1

Burp!  That’s not something you usually see a blog post start with!  Of course, we are talking baby burp cloths.  This burp cloth started with a towel from the Target Dollar Spot!  I couldn’t resist the cheery orange and pink stripes.  Of course, I had to add a cute ruffler (you can watch my tutorial here to find out how).

Burp EP-5

Now,  you know I couldn’t stop with just a ruffle!  I had to get the Cricut Maker & Cricut Easy Press involved!  I mean, hello?!!  This fun, little, ruffled towel was screaming for some pretty letters that said BURP!  It was so easy with the help of HeatnBond Lite Adhesive.

So… you want to know how I made this little ditty?  Here’s a tutorial for yo

Baby Gifts Galore!

bibset

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my Cricut Maker?  I do!  It has opened up a whole new world of crafting for me.  I made this cute little gift set in one afternoon.

baby Gift set-4

The Cricut Maker cut all of the fabric pieces for me. I love that each piece is precisely cut so that all I have to do is stitch it together.  I created the bib design in Adobe Illustrator and simply uploaded the pattern to Cricut Design Space.

baby Gift set-7

Even this sweet little bow was created using pattern pieces cut by the Cricut Maker.

baby Gift set-3

I think the real winner of this entire gift set is the adorable fabrics!  I bought the Little Dolly Baby Size Quilt Set from Cricut and used the fabrics to create this adorable baby gift set.  The Burp cloth is made from fabric and a cloth diaper.  It’s so soft and absorbant for baby and for mom.

I can’t wait to use more of the fabrics on future gift sets.

Create a Pattern & Card Wallet with the Cricut Maker & HeatnBond

I am having so much fun with my Cricut Maker!  Everyday, it seems, I dream of things to make and patterns to create.

Card Wallet-4

Last night, I got home from work and immediately started working on designing a pattern for these cuties that the Cricut Maker could cut out for me.  It was super easy, and the fact that the Cricut Maker not only cut out my fabric and interfacing, but also drew my seam allowances, made making these super easy – even for a beginner sewist, like me!

Card Wallet-10

These are the perfect size for business cards or credit cards.  I love using small wallets like this for a quick run to the grocery or after school sport events.

Card Wallet-15

I added a keyring so that you could easily clip your car keys or even a lobster clasp could be added to clip it to a backpack or purse.

I used Heat N Bond Fusible Extra Firm interfacing to create the perfect firmness to these little gems.

The fun fabrics are from a Pioneer Woman Placemat (top left $3.47 from Walmart), Fabric Editions (top right and lower left – $0.97 from Walmart) and some fabric from my scraps bin from Riley Blake (lower right).

Wanna make one?  Guess what?  I’ve got a tutorial for you!

Making Skirts for Evie with Cricut Fabric

Hello!  If you read yesterday’s blog post where I showed you how to add a Decorative Ruffle Edge to a towel and Decorate it with the Cricut, you will recognize this fabric!

sister-4.jpg

This fabric is from the Riley Blake Collection at Cricut.  It’s part of a quilt collection, and since I have not yet taught myself to quilt, I decided to use it to make a cute skirt for Ms. Evie.

sister-3

And while I was add it, I might as well make a matching hair bow!  She will be stylin this summer!

sister-4

I added a quite T-shirt from Target (though I could easily make something very similar with my Cricut Easy Press and Cricut Gold Foil Iron On).

I can’t wait to make more summery skirts!
