Let’s make a Tortilla Warmer!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve made a sewing video. Today, I wanted to share this really easy tortilla warmer. This is a beginner sewing friendly tutorial. You will need four pieces of 12 x 12 cotton fabric and 2 pieces of 12 x 12 cotton batting to assemble this project.

If you’ve never used a tortilla warmer you might be wondering how this works. You simply add your tortillas (as many as you like) to the inside, pop it in the microwave and warm it for about 30 seconds-1 minute. If you prefer to heat your tortilla on the stove, just add them to the warmer after you’ve heated them and they will stay nice and warm until you’re ready to use them.

If you have a Cricut Maker you can use this Design Space file to cut all of your fabric and batting. If you have a Cricut Explore use the same file, but just cut 1 circle out of cardstock to use as your pattern. No Cricut? No worries, use this FREE PDF pattern to create your circles.

I have a step by step tutorial to walk you through the assembly.

Bowl Koozie with Free PDF Pattern

Bowl Koozie with PDF

I am revisiting an older project.  The bowl koozie.

The original video I made with this fun pattern was focused around the Cricut.  You can see it here.

Cricut added my original design to Cricut Design Space.  If you have a Cricut you can easily cut out the shapes.  The Design Space File is available by clicking here.

This time I wanted to make the Bowl Koozie easy for those who don’t have a Cricut.  I have created a FREE PDF Bowl Koozie Pattern so that anyone can make this fun, beginner friendly sewing gift.

If you are new to my channel, or new to sewing, this project is the perfect for you!  Even seasoned sewists, love making koozies.  I’ve got a step by step tutorial for you to make it super easy to get started.

The bowl koozies make wonderful gifts, craft fair items and they are just great to have around for everyday household use.

If you’d like to start creating and follow along with me in a video tutorial, click below.  I’d love to see your Koozies.  Don’t forget to join my Facebook Group and post your photos!

How to Make Fabric Rope

DSC_0034

This is another really easy, but fun project.  I love to make fabric twine/rope while watching tv.  I am not a person who can just sit idle, I need my hands to be doing something.

DSC_0047

Last night, while watching a movie, my daughter in law and I made these balls of twine.  They turned out so beautiful.

DSC_0043-2

Today, I took her ball of twine and made it into this cool trivet.  The smaller one is a coaster.

DSC_0045-2

It is truly a one of a kind rope and I kinda love it!  The best part?  It’s made with nothing more than fabric from my scrap bin!  What a wonderful way to recycle your scraps.

I plan to keep going with my ball of twine and hope to make a rug out of it.  They are fully washable (I know that’s what you were thinking when I said rug!).

So, do you want to learn how to make some scrap busting fabric rope?  I have a step by step tutorial.  I would love it if you make some if you would tag me on my social media channels and Facebook Groups. You can find me by clicking HERE.

Here’s the tutorial:

How to Make Envelope Pillow Covers

southbendpillowThis has got to me the EASIEST sewing project, ever!  Not only is it very beginner friendly, but it’s so practical.  With this tutorial you can virtually create unlimited amounts of personalized pillows and personalized gifts.  My friend, Karen Runge, showed me a similarly designed pillow and encouraged me to make a tutorial.  I used the Cricut EasyPress and Iron on to create my design.  You could also use this tutorial to  create a blank for Infusible Ink, Embroidery, fabric pens and fabric markers.  So many possiblities.

Let’s get right to the tutorial.  You are going to want to make pillows for all of your friends and family.  (Psssst.. these would make perfect holiday gifts!)

Triangle Jelly Pouches

I had an idea in the middle of the night and could hardly wait until it was time to get up so I could give this a shot.  The Triangle Jelly Pouch!

IMG_5633I had so much fun making the fully lined fabric pouches (you can find that tutorial here), that I thought what would be even more fun, than to create a clear version.

IMG_5632

I mean, seriously, how cute would these be hanging off a backpack, or even just stuffed with treats.  I would totally use that purple one and fill it with Halloween Goodies for the kids.

You could also make these out of faux leather or vinyl for another look.  Check out one of my favorite shops on Etsy called Sew Hungry Hippie.  She’s got so many fantastic selections of vinyl and faux leather.

It features a fun sliding sleeve that collapses and reveals the perfect pen/tool holder for your desktop, but also conveniently expands and closes up so that you can easily take it with you.

It’s the perfect gift for teachers, students or any crafter.  Pens, Markers, Tools, or Sewing Notions fit perfectly inside.

I created a PDF and SVG pattern. You can use your Cricut Maker to cut the SVG, or simply print the PDF and cut your pattern by hand.   You can find them by clicking below:

Pocket Placemat

joann placemat-9-2

Well hello there!  I am happy you are here!  Over in my Craft Crazy Facebook Group. I had a group member ask if I would create a tutorial on this super cute pocket placemat!  She found this wonderful tutorial over on the Joann Fabric website and wanted to see a video tutorial.

joann placemat-1-2

I mean what is not to love about this cutie?  It’s so fun and I can think of a ton of ways to change it up, like this one:

Urban Scrunchie Headband

Well hello there my Urban Scrunchie friends!  I am still at it.  I can’t quit making these really quick and easy headbands using my Urban Scrunchie Mini Template.

If you prefer the Free Printable Pdf & SVG pattern you can get it here. Just in time for Back to School, gym work outs or just when you want to look cute!  I will let you in on a secret… I cheated.  I took a shortcut and used premade headbands!  You can see the ones I used here.

I mean who doesn’t love to put on a bright, happy headband and make a statement.  You can mix and match the headband bows by simply untying and putting it on a different headband.  I cannot wait to see Evie sporting one, but since my cute model isn’t here, you’ll have to settle for me :).  Sorry about that, but I wanted you to see just how fun they are.

I just LOVE them!  They make me happy just looking at them.

I used the same Mini Template that I used for the Mini Urban Scrunchies.  You can find the Original Urban Scrunchie Post here.  I love the fact that you get two projects from the same template.  Keep in mind, the Original Template was much larger and longer.  I used the MIni here.

Here are other ways to use the same template:

I see headbands in the girls’ stockings this year.

Are you ready for the step by step tutorial?  I thought you might be.

Check out this video for 3 more ways to use the Urban Mini Scrunchie:

Grab and Go Wristlet – FREE PATTERN

IMG_3547

Hello!  Can you believe it’s almost JULY?  June has flown by!  I have been super busy.  I just got back from the Cricut Meet and Greet in Chicago where we celebrated the launch of the Infusible Inks with Michaels! (More to come on that later).  Today, I am excited to share with you my very own pattern/design which I call the Grab and Go Wristlet!

Wristlet LAN-1

This little cutie is the perfect size for the summer when you just want to take your key, phone and a few necessities without the added bulk of an oversized purse.

Wristlet LAN-1-2

This little cutie actually has quite a lot of room in it and yet, it’s still a clutch size.  I just love the fun colors.  Wristlet LAN-3

You can’t help but be happy when you see Pink Lemons and Palm Trees, right?

Wristlet LAN-4

I designed this bag so that it can easily be converted to a crossbody bag for when you need your hands free for shopping or chasing kids!  (I remember those days :), I actually miss them very much).

Are you ready for a tutorial:  I have a FREE SVG (perfect if you have a Cricut Maker), or you can choose the FREE PDF pattern and cut it by hand.  You can get them by clicking below:

GRAB & GO SVG PATTERN **                     GRAB & GO PDF PATTERN

** For whatever reason, when uploading the SVG to Cricut Design Space, Design Space is resizing it.  Resize the SVG to 23.5″ wide (Keep lock proportions on).  This will create a finished pouch that is approximately 9 x 7.
