Checkers with the Cricut

Checkers-6

I don’t know about you, but I love a quick game of checkers! It’s even more fun when you can make your own checkerboard in any cute fabric and color scheme.  This turned out to be a Chicago Bears color scheme (totally unintensionally), but how fun would it be to make one in your school colors for a graduation party, make a patriotic one for July 4th outdoor party or even use some pretty summer fabrics to create a checker set for your deck.

Checkers-1

This project comes together so quickly and takes very little sewing experience.  I bet you could get away with hot glue if you wanted to… just sayin!

Checkers-4

I added this tic tac toe drawstring bag to house all of the checker pieces and it doubles as an alternative game.  You could also add the tic tac toe game to the backside of the checkerboard… lots of alternatives with this one!

Checkers-14

When you are all done and ready to put it away.. it rolls up into a nice little size that you can easily store until the next game time.

Checkers-5

So.. have I convinved you that you need a personalized DIY checkerboard in your life?  Well you’re in luck because I’ve got a step by step tutorial for you and you can grab the Cricut Design Space Pattern for the checkerboard here.  You can find a product list below the video.

Fabric Lanyard with the Cricut Maker

Lanyard-19.jpg

I have been to several events lately which have required wearing lanyards.  I was so envious of some of the gorgeous lanyards I have seen others wearing, so I decided to create my own.  How fun are these gorgeous fabrics as lanyards!

Lanyard-2

They are so easy to make, you can almost make one to match every event, outfit or personality.  They make great gifts for coworkers, friends and family.

Lanyard-8

I decided to add a little decorative touch to some of them by adding leather or suede.  What a difference that makes!

Fruit Tote-1Well hello there!  I am back with a QUICK, EASY summer project using your Cricut EasyPress and an insulated lunch tote from the Target Dollar Spot.  I picked up this really cute, striped lunch bag and floral can kooze in the Target Dollar Spot earlier today.  They had a few difference styles, but these were “my colors”…. and so.. they jumped in my cart…(darn you, Target Dollar Spot!)

As soon as I got home, I knew I needed to find a super cute summer saying to add a little Cricut iron on to make it uniquely mine.  LoveSVG had just what I needed and it was FREE.  You can find the design I used here.

Get him all set up with a new Apron, Towel and personalized tools.  I loaded it all on a grill pan for a perfect presentation.

Fathers Day Grill Gift-5

I created the design in Cricut Design Space (You can grab a copy here).  You can personalize it any way you like.  Add a name in place of Dad, change it to Grandpa, or even MOM… Moms grill, too!

Father’s Day is just around the corner!  I can’t believe it’s almost June 17th, already!  Haven’t gotten dad the perfect gift yet?  Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Scrapbooking Evie….

This is a long overdue scrapbook layout. Evie Layout-1

That, my friends, is Miss Evie!  My darling, sweet grand daughter.  She will be two in August and I just haven’t stayed on top of her scrapbooks.

Evie Layout-2

I’m not sure why.  I really enjoy the peaceful process of scrapbooking.   I started my papercraft journey by scrapbooking.

Evie Layout-6

A good friend, Jodie, sent me a scrapbooked birthday card many years ago, and I thought it was the most coolest thing, ever!  I started scraping that same week.

Evie Layout-7

Paper crafting has always been my “go to” fun place.   I love the texture and layers and papers.  Heck, I even love the different adhesives, cutters, scissors and ephemera.  I am an office supply junkie.

Evie Layout-8

Do you ever circle back to a craft that you used do to and wonder why it’s been so long since you’ve endulged?  Leave me a comment and let me know what crafts you would love to get back into.   I hope this is the first of many more layouts to come.

P.S. I used my Cricut Maker to cut all of the background pieces.

Glasses Case with the Cricut & HeatnBond

Sunglass Case TOW-5

Summer is upon us and that means, most likely, I will be losing yet another pair of sunglasses any day now!  In an attempt NOT to lose my glasses, I have created a super easy (beginner sewing) pattern for you to keep those babies safe!

Sunglass Case TOW-7.jpg

I mean, really, how can you misplace this colorful pouch (Fabric by Windham Fabrics).

Sunglass Case TOW-10

I used HeatnBond Fusible Fleece and HeatnBond Fusible Craft Interfacing to provide this fun case with lots of cushion to protect your precious cargo.

Sunglass Case TOW-11

I created a pattern in Cricut Design Space and let the Cricut Maker cut the fabric, interfacing & fleece for me.  It really could not get any easier than this!  If you’d like to grab the cut file, you can find it here.

Ready for the tutorial?  It’s on the Thermoweb Youtube Channel.  Click below and you’re on your way to making your own glasses case.

Celebrate the Maker In YOU!

Maker Hoop-2

Have you celebrated the Maker in YOU?  There is a Maker inside each and every one of us, and I think it’s time we applaud our everyday creative selves!

Maker Hoop-6

It just so happens, I made this maker project with my Cricut Maker!  How Cool is that!?!!?

It’s crazy easy and a really fun addition to your craft area.  I made another one for Evie’s bedroom with her name on it.

Maker Hoop-5

I mean.. hello???  You can make this in any color scheme, any word, any occasion and it just adds that little bit of homemade magic to any room.  I used HeatnBond Fusible Adhestive to add the letters that I cut out with the Cricut Maker.  The Cricut Easy press made applying it super easy!  Did you know Cricut now has fabric with the Fusible product already on it?  They Do!  You can find it here!

This is a super easy project!  You can view this video to find out how to make the letters and this video to find out how to make the flowers.

Monogram Zipper Pouch with the Cricut Maker

Monogram Pouch-2

Hello! I am so happy you are here!  I have been super busy with summer activities, but I couldn’t wait to get this fun tutorial up on the blog.  How cute is this crazy easy zipper pouch.

Monogram Pouch-1

I even made a mini version.  Everything is cuter when it’s mini… why is that??

This is a lined zipper pouch that I made using the Cricut Maker/Cricut Design Space to make and cut all of the fabric pieces.

Monogram Pouch-8

I used HeatnBond Adhesive to attach the monogram and HeatnBond Interfacing to give the bag some extra structure.  I really love the overall look.  Wouldn’t these be cute as bridesmaid gifts or graduation gifts?  I can think of a million uses.

Let’s make one together.  Here’s a step by step video tutorial.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a Cricut – you can follow along and make your pattern on paper and use that as a template.  I give you all of the measurements in the video.  The products used are listed below the video and in the video description.  I can’t wait to see what you make!
