My daughter asked me to make something for the grandkids that they could take their “stuff” to day care in.  It needed to be large enough to hold their nap blanket and pillow, an extra set of cloths and all of the other essentials, but it also needed to be soft a flexible enough they could fold it up and store it in their cube at daycare.

I came up with this pattern.  I used outdoor fabric for durability and fusible fleece to give them a bit of structure, but still soft and foldable.

I am in love with how they turned out.

By simply adjusting the size of the fabrics, you can make a tote for almost any occasion using this design.  It’s the perfect beginner sewing friendly project.

Hello there!  It’s been awhile.  I hope you enjoyed the holidays with friends and family.  I sure did!  We have been non-stop since Thanksgiving.  I took a little break in December so that I could enjoy some family time.

Today, however, I had to get back to Cricuting.  I have two new, fun patterns for you to try!

The Scallop and Round Bowl Koozie / Cozy (which do you say?)

They are made very much like my original bowl koozie, but the one on the left has a round edge and the one on the right has a scallop edge.

Here is a step by step tutorial for you and don’t forget to grab the free Design Space Files here:  SCALLOP KOOZIE and ROUND KOOZIE.  If you don’t have a Cricut Maker, but you have an Explore, go ahead and cut out the patterns in cardstock and then just use that at a pattern to hand cut the fabric.

Hello and thanks for stopping by!  Today, I have a new make up pouch tutorial for you.  We have all seen this style of make up bag, but did you know how EASY they are to make on your own?

I even added a vinyl lining which makes it easy to wipe up any spills or powders that can get inside a make up pouch.  It’s not just me that is messy, right?

Or leave the vinyl out, like the one above and use it for your jewelry when traveling or your child’s legos… there’s never a shortage of uses for a pouch!

If you don’t have a Maker, yet, never fear because I have a work around for you.  I bet you have a dinner plate and that will work just fine, too!

You can whip these up in time for Christmas gift giving!  They take very little supplies and picking the fabrics is half the fun!

Cheers!  Today, we are making fabric wine bags.  I just love making these personalized bags.

 

Often, I find I want to do a little more than just a single bottle of wine.  I think adding a fabric wine bag that the recipient can reuse is an excellent way to take an everyday gift and make it a little more special and add that touch of handmade love.

Pair it with a couple of wine glasses and your simple gift is on a whole other level.  Fabric scraps are perfect for this project!  Wouldn’t it be fun to make it out of Halloween Fabric and add “witches brew” on the side?  How about a bottle for the bridal party to enjoy while they are getting ready… add the word BRIDE.  You could make it out of fun floral fabrics for a girls night at a friends house, or add a monogram for an everyday hostess gift.  Tons of possiblities.

I used the Cricut EasyPress to add the word “Cheers”.  I just love the 6 x 7 EasyPress for this project.

 

It’s even fun without any personalization.

 

Don’t have a Cricut Maker yet?  (you need one).  Don’t worry… simply cut the pattern out with cardstock and use that as a template to cut the fabric by hand.  Easy peasy!… (but seriously.. you NEED the Maker!)

I have been to several events lately which have required wearing lanyards.  I was so envious of some of the gorgeous lanyards I have seen others wearing, so I decided to create my own.  How fun are these gorgeous fabrics as lanyards!

They are so easy to make, you can almost make one to match every event, outfit or personality.  They make great gifts for coworkers, friends and family.

I decided to add a little decorative touch to some of them by adding leather or suede.  What a difference that makes!

Here are the supplies you need and below that is the step by step video tutorial.

Cricut Fabric Mat

(2) pieces of cotton fabric approximately 20″ x 2″ (I used this Cricut Fabric in the video)

(1) piece of HeatnBond Lightweight interfacing . 2″ x 20″

(1) lobster clasp

Optional:

(1) piece of leather or faux leather 3 x 1″

(1) eyelet and eyelet setter  (will need a hole punch)

Sunglass Case TOW-5

Summer is upon us and that means, most likely, I will be losing yet another pair of sunglasses any day now!  In an attempt NOT to lose my glasses, I have created a super easy (beginner sewing) pattern for you to keep those babies safe!

I used HeatnBond Fusible Fleece and HeatnBond Fusible Craft Interfacing to provide this fun case with lots of cushion to protect your precious cargo.

I created a pattern in Cricut Design Space and let the Cricut Maker cut the fabric, interfacing & fleece for me.  It really could not get any easier than this!  If you’d like to grab the cut file, you can find it here.

I cannot believe how much of a response I’ve gotten to the Placemat Pouches! You guys are so amazing!  I had to come up with another version for you!  I give you.. Version 4!

I can see all kinds of uses for this little cutie patootie!  On the go diaper bag, perhaps?  Or a cute little purse?  What about a grab and go beach pouch?  It’s a great size and made from another quilted placemat, so the extra padding makes it ideal for all kinds of “Stuff” you need to carry around.

Planner / Journal Pen Holder with Cricut Maker

Today, I have a really fun and super easy project for you!

Pretty fun, right?!!  These are super easy to put together and great for beginner sewists, like me!

The best part is, you can customize them to fit any planner and/or color preference.

You can see on this one I wanted to add a little color to my Heidi Swapp Gold Polka Dot planner, so I added Coral and Teal.  Dreamy!

I just love it!

How about this combo?  Florals are kinda my go to theme!

If you’re a Cricut Maker User, you can grab the Design Spacefile here and cut it out with your Maker.  Don’t have a Cricut Maker, no worries.  You can cut this pattern by hand!  It’s super easy.

Well hello there!  Happy Friday.  I am so excited the weekend is almost here.  I thought I would share a fun project with you that can created start to finish in an afternoon.  It’s really pretty easy.

I think this door mat makes the perfect house warming, wedding, shower, birthday, Mother’s Day, holiday gift.  Who wouldn’t love a warm welcome into their home, like this.  Do you have a blended family?  Try something with first names like, “welcome to Doug and Lorrie’s”.

Skillet Handle Pot Holders / Hot Pads with the Cricut Maker

Do you have a cast iron skillet?  Are we alone in loving a well seasoned cast iron skillet and the beauty that lies within?  I’m pretty sure there are more of you out there.  If you have ever used a cast iron skillet, you know the handle gets super hot!  Enter the Skillet Handle Pot Holder. SKillet Pot Holder (1 of 3) I love this! It makes it super easy to grab that skillet from the oven.  Am I the only one who suddenly smells bacon?

Now, I have to remind you – do not put the skillet in the oven with the handle holder on it.  It will catch fire and burn.  Ask me how I know 🙁

Would you be a bit surprised if I told you I made these with the Cricut Maker?  That’s right.  I created a pattern in Design Space (the software that is free to use with any Cricut Explore or Maker machine), then I added the fabric to the mat and ba da bing, ba da boom…. no more scorched hands.SKillet Pot Holder (1 of 1)
