Bowl Koozie with Free PDF Pattern

Bowl Koozie with PDF

I am revisiting an older project.  The bowl koozie.

The original video I made with this fun pattern was focused around the Cricut.  You can see it here.

Cricut added my original design to Cricut Design Space.  If you have a Cricut you can easily cut out the shapes.  The Design Space File is available by clicking here.

This time I wanted to make the Bowl Koozie easy for those who don’t have a Cricut.  I have created a FREE PDF Bowl Koozie Pattern so that anyone can make this fun, beginner friendly sewing gift.

If you are new to my channel, or new to sewing, this project is the perfect for you!  Even seasoned sewists, love making koozies.  I’ve got a step by step tutorial for you to make it super easy to get started.

The bowl koozies make wonderful gifts, craft fair items and they are just great to have around for everyday household use.

If you’d like to start creating and follow along with me in a video tutorial, click below.  I’d love to see your Koozies.  Don’t forget to join my Facebook Group and post your photos!

How to make a scrub cap with your Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore

Screen Shot 2020-04-22 at 3.07.21 PM

Hello everyone!  I was happy to see that Cricut recently added scrub cap patterns to Cricut Design Space.  Our medical communities have asked that the MAKERS help supply them with masks, scrub caps during this critical time.  I am thrilled that Cricut has made this super easy to do.  Whether you are a Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore user, you can make this Scrub Cap.  Don’t let it scare you.  It’s a very easy pattern and I am here to walk you through it step by step.  Are you ready?  Let’s get started.

Drawstring Tote Bag

IMG_8914

I have been wanting to create this drawstring tote bag tutorial for awhile now, but I got sidetracked with mask making.  I thought it would be a fun time to create this quick and rather easy tote bag.

IMG_8912

I used this great PUL fabric on the inside that makes it water resistant and easily wipeable, which means, it could easily double as a make up bag, lunch tote or use it for just about anything you’d use a tote bag for.  The finished size measures about 7 x 6 x 10″.

IMG_8909

I have a step by step tutorial linked below.   If you have a Cricut Maker  you can cut all of the pieces with your Maker.  No Maker, no worries.  I have a PDF with the dimensions here, you can easily handcut each piece.

So, are you ready to make a couple of cute drawstring totes?  I bet you can’t make just one!  I know, I couldn’t!  If you make one, please post on social media and tag me.  You can find all of my links in the video description.  I love to see what you are making!

How to Make a Face Mask with Filter Pocket and Fabric Ties

IMG_2945 2

The CDC is now recommending that everyone wear a cloth face mask when outside their home.  Medical N95 and surgical masks are in short supply, so please leave those for the medical and essential workers.  Check with the CDC regarding the advantages and benefits of wearing a fabric masks.  They will not prevent Corona Virus, but it is believed they may help slow the spread.

I have made two variations, one with fabric ties, and one with elastic.  They are contructed the same as far as the body of the mask.  The only difference being instead of tucking two separate strings on each end, I simply tuck both ends of a 7″ (Adult) or 6″ (Child) into each end to form a loop.

IMG_4763 2

There are a TON of face mask tutorials available online.  Including the elastic, pleated version I posted earlier.  You can find that tutorial by clicking HERE.  I have been sewing face masks for a local assisted senior living facility.  The elastic can be tedious and uncomfortable for extended used.  I decided to come up with my own pattern using fabric ties.  You can substitute Ribbon, Twill, Bias Tape, or any other durable, washable and comfortable tie.

IMG_6840 2

I also wanted to make a face mask with a pocket for a filter.  You can see the pocket in the photo above.  It makes it really easy to remove and change the filter.

I also needed a child size version.  I made this version which I guesstimate to fit a child age 4-12.

I have a step by step tutorial as well as FREE PDF patterns for both sizes.  You can find the FREE PDF patterns in my SHOP here:

How to make a Planner Pouch

DSC_0013

Hey there!  Thanks for stopping by! I had a few requests over in my Craft Crazy Facebook Group to create a tutorial for a planner pouch.  I grabbed my planner and got busy creating what I felt was a perfect size, but you can easily adapt it to fit your planner.

DSC_0001

I think it’s super practical and not just for planners.  Journal writers, students and list makers would also enjoy a pouch.  Keeping all of your planner stickers, writing utensils, clips, erasers, etc. with your notebook has never been easier, or prettier.

If you have a Cricut, I have a Design Space file so you can let the Maker cut the fabric and interfacing for you.  CLICK HERE FOR THE DESIGN SPACE FILE.

How to Make Envelope Pillow Covers

southbendpillowThis has got to me the EASIEST sewing project, ever!  Not only is it very beginner friendly, but it’s so practical.  With this tutorial you can virtually create unlimited amounts of personalized pillows and personalized gifts.  My friend, Karen Runge, showed me a similarly designed pillow and encouraged me to make a tutorial.  I used the Cricut EasyPress and Iron on to create my design.  You could also use this tutorial to  create a blank for Infusible Ink, Embroidery, fabric pens and fabric markers.  So many possiblities.

Let’s get right to the tutorial.  You are going to want to make pillows for all of your friends and family.  (Psssst.. these would make perfect holiday gifts!)

Parkside Tote – Collaboration with OklaRoots

parkside1

I have been so excited to release the Parkside Tote Bag.  OklaRoots and I collaborated on this super fun, super practical tote bag.

IMG_6053

We are both bag makers.  She is also a quilter – I want to be a quilter.  Neither of us have the time to commit to a full size quilt everytime we want to quilt, so we decided to combine our two loves and voila… the Parkside Tote was built.

Jess over at OklaRoots designed the quilt block just for you.  It is perfectly sized and pieced together to fit within the construction of this tote.  You can visit her blog and Youtube to find out how to make the quilt portion of the bag, pick up the PDF templates and she’s even got SVGs for all of you digital die cutting makers.

IMG_3399Then stop back here and I’ll show you how to construct the bag.  I’ve got a PDF for you with all of the dimensions for the fabric portions of the bag.  You can get it HERE.

There is so much room inside of this bag.

Triangle Jelly Pouches

IMG_5641

I had an idea in the middle of the night and could hardly wait until it was time to get up so I could give this a shot.  The Triangle Jelly Pouch!

IMG_5633I had so much fun making the fully lined fabric pouches (you can find that tutorial here), that I thought what would be even more fun, than to create a clear version.

IMG_5632

I mean, seriously, how cute would these be hanging off a backpack, or even just stuffed with treats.  I would totally use that purple one and fill it with Halloween Goodies for the kids.

IMG_5633

You could also make these out of faux leather or vinyl for another look.  Check out one of my favorite shops on Etsy called Sew Hungry Hippie.  She’s got so many fantastic selections of vinyl and faux leather.

Are you ready for the tutorial?

The Ashley Tote Bag

Ashley-Tote-YT

Hi there!  Over in my Craft Crazy with Lorrie nuneMAKER Facebook Group I posted a bag similar to this quite awhile ago.  It was this bag:

IMG_5139 2

and boy did I have a lot of request to make a tutorial.  Life got in the way… my son got married.  I have been so busy with wedding planning, guests every weekend, that I just didn’t have time to create a tutorial.

I did, however, take the time one afternoon to make a mock up so that I could get the dimensions down.  I came up with this tote:

IMG_5147 2.jpeg

Today, I finally had a chance to take a little bit from each bag and change it up just a little more and create the “Ashley” tote.  I love it so much.

The fabric makes me happy and the quilting just gives me all the feels.
