Who needs a thread catcher? Apparently, I need several because I can’t stop making them! These little guys are fun to make and they look much harder than they actually are.

I think these are going to be Holiday Gifts for the crafters in my family. I can make one to match each of their home decor crafty spaces. They are so handy to throw in those little paper scraps, threads and little bits and they look so much better than a trash can! They would be perfect to take to a crop.
I’ve got an SVG so that you can cut this out with your Cricut Maker. You can download it HERE. If you don’t have an Cricut, yet, you NEED one, but I’ve got all of the instructions in the video so you can cut this by hand.

full time and simply don’t have time to also make
written directions, but I do have the free cut file and video instructions. You can stop and pause the video and write up your own directions as you go.

Look under the fourth picture in the fist sentence where it says: ” You can download it HERE.” Click on the “HERE.” and it will take you to the svg file and you can print it from there or download it and print it.
If you download it, you may have to pick a program to open it with. You can use Internet Explorer or another program that you have that will pull it up.

What a very useful little thread catcher. Excellent tutorial , I will make one (or many) with my grand daughter who is interested in crafty things like knitting and sewing. Thank-you for your generosity in sharing it with the world.
Just a reflection after musing on similar posts on other blogs lately. Perhaps we could show a bit of gratitude that someone has spent their time preparing a video for us out of good will. And if we want written instructions why don’t we take turns writing them up, checking with the blogger that she/he is OK with them aad then posting them for others.to use.

Thanks for a great video! I saw a bag like this one at my friend’s, hanging from the table next to her sewing machine and remarked that that was a very handy thing to have. I hope I get to make one soon.
Is there anything else one can use for filling the pin cushion instead of crushed nuts? I would think that those start smelling after a while, and also leave oily stains.
I live in Belgium, if that makes any difference in availability of items. Also I have no idea what an SVG is – sounds like a terrible disease, which I am sure it isn’t – but I am sure it is not essential in order to make this cool item.
It’s actually walnut shells not nuts and no they don’t smell. I’ve had mine for almost a year
I used white sand for the pincushion on my threadcatcher made several years ago. I made a separate bag which holds the sand and fits nside the pincushion. Ir’s a very handy sewing tool!

Thanks, Lorrie, for sharing your time and talents! I left the pin cushion empty. My magnetic pin ‘cushion’ sits on the fabric and holds the bag. This is much prettier than my old plastic trash bag. Your generosity is much appreciated!

Could use sand instead of walnut I am high allergic to walnuts.
